What have I accomplished?

I graduated Georgia Institute of Technology in the spring of 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.  During my time at Georgia Tech I participated in a cooperative learning program where I worked for 7 quarters as a design engineer for Metrotrans Corporation.  I acquired many engineering as well as overall business skills that create self worth in the business market.  I worked with design software such as Autocad and ProEngineer when developing new products.  I also participated in the study abroad program at Oxford University while attending Georgia Tech.  This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel all over Europe and experience the different cultures.  We toured for 3 weeks starting in Berlin, Germany and took a large sweep across Europe to end up at Oxford.  We studied at Oxford for 5 weeks, taking weekend trips to nearby countries.

After graduation, I received a sales engineering job at Shumate Mechanical.  I sell commercial heating and air conditioning systems to general contracting construction groups.  I use my engineering background to design complete operational systems in numerous building applications.  I create as well as maintain existing relationships with my customer accounts.  I estimate the price for numerous projects.  When we are awarded a job, I work closely with project management to make sure the project runs smoothly and is completed on time.

How am I creating value for myself?

I am currently enrolled in the Flexible MBA program at Georgia State University.  The MBA program will help me foster new ideas and business skills by allowing me to work with other professionals with different backgrounds and experiences.  The MBA program will make me a well-rounded individual by combining business skills with my engineering background.

Where am I going?

After I complete my MBA degree, I plan on becoming a Professional Engineer.  I am currently gaining the required work experience needed to take the Professional Engineering exam, which is the final test in obtaining a Professional Engineering License.  I have already passed the first test called the EIT.

All of this professional development is in anticipation of first becoming a manager for a sales team or division and eventually becoming a CEO of a mid-sized corporation.
